Spectrum Lighting and the Right To Repair

As a specifier or architect, you have many lighting products to choose from. What makes one product more attractive than another? If long term reliability and the ability to repair a lighting fixture rather than replace the entire fixture are important then Spectrum Lighting is the choice for you. We pride ourselves in manufacturing quality long lasting products that can be easily repaired. Repairability is becoming a global priority across the lighting industry. A recent article from Inside Lighting highlights new Global Lighting Association guidelines focused on reducing premature fixture waste through modular design, documentation, and spare-parts availability.

At Spectrum Lighting we are appalled at all the low cost “throw away” lighting products on the market. What all these products have in common is that they can’t be easily upgraded to new electronics or repaired, rather they are thrown away. Aside from landfill and waste, matching existing fixtures and LEDs may require replacing everything on a project if consistency is important.

Spectrum Lighting manufactures locally here in Massachusetts and all our fixtures contain standard LED boards and LED drivers that are easy to repair and replace. This ability to repair electronics, which are the most common failure point in led lights, coupled with our quality materials, durable finishes and thoughtful designs, means fixtures can last the lifetime of a building and be maintained infinitely.

We are committed to supporting our customers and partners by providing high-quality lighting solutions that are built to last. We recognize the importance of the Right to Repair movement and believe that customers should have reasonable access to the resources needed to maintain and repair their products.

Our approach includes:

  • Transparency: We strive to make product information, specifications, and maintenance guidelines available to authorized service providers and end-users.
  • Support: Spectrum Lighting offers technical assistance and replacement parts for our products to ensure they can be serviced effectively and safely.
  • Sustainability: By enabling repair and extending product life cycles, we help reduce waste and promote environmentally responsible practices.
  • Safety and Compliance: While we support repairability, we also prioritize safety and compliance with industry standards to protect both users and technicians.

We believe that empowering customers with repair options fosters trust, reduces environmental impact, and aligns with our mission to deliver reliable, sustainable lighting solutions.
