Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Position Summary
As a Mechanical Engineer, prospective employee will perform engineering duties in planning and designing high-end architectural lighting products. Such duties include:
- Will design mechanical aspects of lighting fixtures transitioning from prototype to production in accordance with UL1598 and UL8750 standards. May work with different design and estimation tools such as Solidworks.
- Will work as part of the new products development team to create the specification for lighting products.
- Will conduct thermal failure mode testing on critical components of the fixture and manage the thermal lab. May use NI DasyLAB.
- Will be responsible for diagnosing product failures and will work with assembly technicians on implementing corrective actions.
- Will perform tasks independently and may guide and mentor junior team members.

CAD Drafter
Location: Fall River, MA

Position Summary
Spectrum Lighting is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Drafter to join our Engineering team. This position plays a critical role in supporting the design, documentation, and manufacturing of commercial lighting products by creating accurate technical drawings and engineering documentation.
The ideal candidate is organized, mechanically inclined, and thrives in a collaborative environment. You’ll work closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to develop production-ready documentation that supports manufacturing, assembly, and product development.

Key Responsibilities
- Create accurate mechanical drawings and technical documentation using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Develop and maintain assembly drawings, component drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), wiring diagrams, and other engineering documentation.
- Create and update BIM models as required.
- Ensure engineering documentation is clear, accurate, and production-ready.
- Support new product development, engineering changes, and sustaining engineering initiatives.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, and Quality teams to ensure designs meet functional and manufacturing requirements.
- Maintain organized engineering files and documentation.
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
- Assist in identifying design improvements and resolving technical issues.
- Manage multiple projects while meeting established deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Vocational/Technical certification or Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, CAD, or a related field.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to interpret technical information and follow engineering specifications.
- Good mathematical and reading comprehension skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and consistently meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the commercial lighting industry or a related manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of UL, NEC, NFPA, and other applicable industry codes and standards.
- Experience creating and maintaining BIM models.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and product assembly.
- Experience supporting sustaining engineering or product lifecycle management initiatives.

Assembly Department Supervisor

Position Summary
Spectrum Lighting is seeking an experienced Assembly Department Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our commercial lighting assembly department. This role is responsible for ensuring production goals, quality standards, employee performance, and safety expectations are consistently achieved while maintaining efficient workflow throughout the department.
The ideal candidate will have previous supervisory experience in commercial lighting manufacturing and possess strong technical knowledge of lighting fixtures, ERP systems, manufacturing reports, and production processes. This individual must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of leading employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the daily activities of assembly employees.
- Assign work based on production priorities and staffing levels.
- Ensure production schedules and customer deadlines are met.
- Monitor productivity, quality, and efficiency throughout the department.
- Train, coach, and develop employees while holding them accountable to company expectations.
- Provide clear, consistent direction and maintain open communication with team members.
- Utilize ERP and other computer systems to monitor production, inventory, work orders, and reporting.
- Review production reports and identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Troubleshoot assembly issues involving products, materials, or processes.
- Verify proper assembly of commercial lighting fixtures to company quality standards.
- Ensure employees safely and properly use hand tools and assembly equipment.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Shipping, and Production Planning to resolve issues and maintain workflow.
- Maintain housekeeping and organization throughout the department.
- Enforce all company policies and safety procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work overtime as required to meet production demands.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience in the commercial lighting industry.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in manufacturing.
- Thorough knowledge of commercial lighting fixtures and assembly processes.
- Experience using ERP systems within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.
- Ability to interpret production reports and use data to make informed decisions.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
